What I Help With

Traumatic Grief

Trauma therapy in Portland, Oregon

Let’s get this out of the way first:
there is no “fixing” grief.

It will never be okay that you lost your person in a traumatic way.

No pill, book, spiritual practice, or form of therapy will ever make that go away.

What we can do is soften the edges of a traumatic loss.

Your memories will still be there, but they will no longer send a shot of adrenaline running through your body, making your heart feel like it’s beating out of your chest and leaving you gasping for air.

You will still feel the emotions that come with your loss, but instead of being crushed under the weight of them, you will feel like you are big enough and strong enough to allow them to come through you.

In a culture that fears talking about death and runs away from any reminders of grief and loss, choosing to confront your grief head-on is a hugely courageous act.

By doing so, you’re not only healing some of your own suffering, but increasing the amount of wisdom about death, loss, and grief in a society that desperately needs it.

I’m not afraid of the painful, graphic details of your loss, or of the feelings that seem as big and turbulent as the ocean.

Together, we will find out what a more peaceful relationship to your grief looks like.

Working with grief is a journey, and as you embark on it, I will walk alongside you.
